Biografie

Ludwig Wladimir Dorner was born in Hamburg in 2001 and began violin lessons at the age of six at the Hanstedt Music School. His exceptional musical talent became evident early on and was further nurtured through lessons with renowned teachers such as Michael Holm, as well as Florin Paul and Harim Chun, both members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra.

During his school years, he became a multiple national prizewinner at "Jugend musiziert" and gained formative orchestral experience, including with the Albert Schweitzer Youth Orchestra and the NDR Youth Symphony Orchestra. There, he participated in significant performances, among them the Verdi Requiem under Christoph Eschenbach and Carmina Burana under Krzysztof Urbański at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

As a scholarship recipient of the Andreas Franke Academy at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, Ludwig received intensive training with Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender. He made his solo debut in 2015 at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg with Vivaldi's Four Seasons, performing alongside the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg. International recognition followed in 2016 when he reached the finals of the Grumiaux Violin Competition in Brussels. A year later, he was awarded both the "Blauer Löwe" cultural prize of the Harburg district and the first prize of the Lions Club Music Competition in the Hamburg regional district.

From 2016 to 2020, Ludwig studied at the renowned Yehudi Menuhin School in England with Prof. Boris Kucharsky, where he was also a member of the school orchestra and completed his Music A-Level in 2020. Since 2022, he has continued his studies at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre—once again with Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender as well as with Prof. Sebastian Schmidt.

Ludwig also attended numerous masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Kirill Troussov, Alexander Brussilovsky, Prof. Pavel Berman, and the well-known Mark Lubotsky, former Professor of Violin in Hamburg.

He is currently employed as a tutti violinist with the Magdeburg Philharmonic, having previously completed an internship with the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside his orchestral commitments, he devotes himself with particular passion to chamber music. With his Tonler Piano Trio, he remains active in various musical projects that highlight his sensitive ensemble playing and artistic versatility. In November he has received a scholarship at Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now.
